Fees

The fee for your anaesthetic is separate from those paid to your surgeon and to the hospital at the time of your procedure.

Anaesthetist Fees and Rebates

Anaesthetists determine their fees based on the Relative Value Guide (RVG), which considers the nature, complexity, and duration of the anaesthesia service.

Medicare and private health funds may rebate some of this fee.

If the anaesthetist’s fee is not fully covered, you will be responsible for an insurance shortfall or out-of-pocket amount, which is separate from your hospital excess.

Invoice and Payment Information

Our practice requires prepayment of anaesthesia fees. You will receive an SMS with a secure link to pay your invoice prior to your procedure.

Please review the following information to understand our billing and payment process:

  • Invoice Issuance
Invoices are issued one week prior to surgery, once the finalised surgical list has been received from your surgeon’s rooms.

  • Receiving Your Quote
You will receive an SMS containing a secure link to your quote and genral information regarding your anaesthetic.
To access the quote, please enter your date of birth when prompted.

  • Anaesthesia Fees and Out-of-Pocket Costs

-Most anaesthetic procedures will attract an out-of-pocket expense, also known as a “gap,” which represents the shortfall between the anaesthetist’s total fee and the amount reimbursed by your private health insurer.

-The extent of the gap depends on the nature, complexity, and duration of the scheduled surgery.

-Non-funded patients, or those undergoing cosmetic or longer procedures, may be required to pay the full fee.

-Your quote will specify whether your procedure is fully covered, partially covered, or requires full payment.

  • Itemised Receipt
An itemised receipt will be issued within two weeks following your procedure.
This can be used to submit claims to Medicare and/or your private health fund.
